And then …

January 18, 2010

So it seems that the ampersand must be universally loved.

Get your fix at my newest daily obsession Ampersand Ampersand. They will feature the classically quirky shape via a different font each and every day and a link to the coordinating font shop.

And that’s just fine with us!

January 1, 2010

I can’t believe we are looking back at 2009 already! Let’s all celebrate with new resolutions, a fresh start and um, cake?

Yes, I’ll be having some cake to celebrate the one year anniversary of My Heart Behaves. It was one year ago today that I made my 2009 resolution to start this humble blog about what inspires me, and hopefully you.

Check out my sick booty here, as I got on WordPress right around midnight and typed in the URL myheartbehaves.wordpress.com.

It’s been a fun journey and I can probably say this is the first resolution that I’ve actually hung onto and am continuing into the next year. Crazy, huh? None the less, I’m even more excited about year two, with each and everyone of you along the way.

Merry 2010, I hope it’s nearly as charming as 2009 has been.

Check out my feature, Holiday Lights Gift Tags by Kristina, on Creature Comforts today! As part of her wonderful 18 Days of Festive Freebies & Holiday Tutorials, these vintage-inspired tags include a free download and some suggestions on my favorite crafty tools. Head on over!

Big thanks to Ez for including me in such a special feature. If you aren’t reading Creature Comforts, add it to your feed pronto!

PS: In the spirit of giving, I encourage you all to visit the Angel Giving Tree or give to a food pantry this season. Don’t know where to start? Click here for more info on the Angels. Everyone needs a little extra help this year. Please give, if at all possible, and change someone’s life.

Things We Love

November 23, 2009

If you have a chance, check out my spot on Rearranged Design. Ana has a feature called Things We Love, where I shared the story of my darling Tensor lamp.

Thanks again, Ana, for including me!

Not sew simple.

August 5, 2009

So I began this blog a little over eight months ago. It was a New Year’s Resolution of mine. I’m a blog-reading addict, so why not have my own? So far it’s been really rewarding, getting to share with my friends and family on my little view of the world.

It’s even more fun to have people you don’t know send you a message via email or tweet saying how much they enjoy the blog. Really, it warms my heart. And if I had more time in one day, you’d see something new pop up on your Google Reader each and everyday from My Heart Behaves.

(BTW, did I ever tell you why it’s called MHB? I illustrated the heart for no reason one night while listening to ‘How My Heart Behaves’ by Fiest. And boom! The blog title was born!)

So where am I going with this? I’m going to make a reverse resolution, if you will. I want to learn to sew. I’ve been thinking about it, admiring it, glaring at it. With mild bouts of jealousy when a see a fab dress this the one below, make me urn to figure how what the difference is between a back stitch and a straight stitch.

And because frankly, if I could make a dress like this, I’d where it everyday.

Also, on a technical note, I have figured out how to include the URL to my pics! So click away, loyal reader to Liza Rietz‘s Etsy shop. The girl’s got great taste!

Addiction

January 30, 2009

It comes in so many forms. Lately for me, it’s Etsy, Art Fire, THIS RAD SITE and Twitter. Are you on? It’s really quite genius. Forget Facebook and Myspace: it’s all about the tweets!

Busy weekend plans: meeting with a client tomorrow, making a trek to Grapevine and Raquel’s work … then off to North Dallas to have a creative meeting with Alyssa. Hosting Tara’s baby shower Saturday for 30+ ladies, a bridesmaid appointment on Sunday and the Superbowl (which I could care less about, with the exception of the hotness that is Kurt Warner), all with my good friend Shannon in town, whom I hope I can squeeze some quality time in with. Whew! Breathe!

I also have arecent addiction to hot tea, which I'm drinking in the uber-cool mug I found in the cabinet at work.

WHERE I SPEND 40+ HOURS A WEEK SITTING: I also have a recent addiction to hot tea, which I'm drinking in the uber-cool mug I found in the cabinet at work.
