Poppies!

June 29, 2009

I’ve been looking for that certain something to put in my Orla Kiely vase since I bought it a couple of weeks ago. It’s currently resting in the bathroom, as it vaguely matches my shower curtain. (Basically it’s just in the same “green family,” but a severely different shade. And not in the good way.) So I’m certainly not opposed to moving it around, if need be.

Anywho, I love the paper craft section at Paper Source. (If you’ve never been there and you live in the DFW area, I highly recommend a pit stop at the one in NorthPark Center.) I came across these paper flowers made to look like poppies.

They are oh-so-precious and I think they will make a good fit with the vase. I’ll let ya know how it turns out, once I have a chance to put it all together.

Did I mention I have the busiest summer ever? It’s a good thing, but makes little-to-zero time for all of my little projects. Sigh …

So very Carrie

June 26, 2009

As soon as I walked into work the other day, everyone mentioned how my outfit was so very Carrie Bradshaw. Mind you, I wasn’t in a single couture item, not even in a true heel or anything really Carrie. But I was wearing one very large flower brooch on my cardigan, so I guess that made me Carrie Bradshaw for the day.

Let’s be honest. I have an addiction to accessories. And my latest love is the brooch. So here are a few drool-worthy one’s I’m loving right now:

Unstoppable

June 24, 2009

This makes me happy …

PS: Really, really wanted to go to the Sasquatch Festival. Maybe next year? ;)

Guess where I’m going next week?

That’s right! Portland, the best city I know.

To do before I leave:

Make playlist of Portland bands for iPod
To include: my fav’s The Decemberists, M. Ward and transplants Pavement, Modest Mouse and The Shins.

Pack some clothes
Big chore, since most are still packed from the move and the washer/dryer are not hooked up yet. This could pose as a problem. Eek!

Get a rockin’ new ‘do
This has been on my To Do list for months …

Purchase a new tripod
Because Daniel left it on top of the Border’s parking garage it’s no where to be found and I plan to take many, many pictures.

Orla Kiely for Target half off!

June 14, 2009

Spotted: Orla Kiely on major clearance at Target.

photo

This was the lovely sight I saw this Saturday at the one off of Lemon and Central.

I ended up getting all three of the Stoneware Pear Canisters for the kitchen and the green Stoneware Pitcher for my bathroom. I had loved them all before and picked up a few of her other pieces, but once I saw that clearance sign, it made the deal. Who doesn’t love a good 50% off?

Check out {Black. White. Yellow.}‘s blog to see a pic of the pitcher. It’s no longer available on Target’s site it seems.

Sadly though, the small gray canister didn’t make it home alive. I dropped it in the parking garage. D’oh! Hopefully there are more when I return like a mad woman. Get it before it’s all gone!

Only two more weeks to go.

June 12, 2009

This has been a stressful week. And the next few are sure to be just as much. I have so much organizing and purging to do over the weekend. Anyone need a couch or wicker chair or china cabinet? No, seriously …

So I leave you with this picture of a craft room from Flapi. Isn’t it the cutest?

Happy weekend!

One potato, two potato

June 11, 2009

I won’t be blogging over any of my own craftiness over the next couple of weeks, as I pack up my belongings and move back to the 75204. So I thought I’d share some sites I LOVE and thing you need to LOVE too.

Three Potato Four is this fantastic little online store, filled with vintage and new home decor pieces and some design goodies.

As you can see from their current home page, I’m coveting this Brooklyn poster by designer Jim Datz. (First edition.)

It’s got other fun finds like these letterpress blocks for $24

or this graphic bird tray ain’t too bad either.

As far as their prints go, I’ve long-been admiring this orange/red flock print by Good Shape Design. It goes for $32 and is a steal. Apparently even Ty Pennington featured it in Home Magazine. Who knew?

I don’t know, maybe it’s just that it’s all photographed so sweetly or that it’s basically a designer’s computer come to life, but I love it and hope you do, too.

It makes me want one.

June 9, 2009

I must admit, the magazine Papier Mache makes one want to have children.

The design is just lovely and the kiddos look too cute in the colorful clothes.

Check it out if you get a chance. The entire thing is online and viewable. And it makes me want graph paper, badly!

FFFFOUND! FAIL

June 9, 2009

I’ve heard loads and loads of people talk about the greatness that is FFFFOUND! Basically it’s a bookmarking system that allows you to save and share your favorite images from the web.

For a person like me, who is constantly looking at design, photography, crafts, inspiration, (okay just about everything) this seemed like the ideal system for me to keep my stuff organized.

However, the thing is by invite only. Blast!

But most importantly, is only supported for Windows and IE. Um … yuck. That’s just not going to happen.

So here’s to you, FFFFOUND!: a photo of a gorgeous living room, with all of it’s redish-orange and cyan goodness, I pulled onto my desktop last week. I have no idea where I got the thing, and I’ll never know, thanks to you.

Disclaimer: I realize this post might seem mean, but it’s really just dripping with sarcasm. (I swear!) I hope the folks at FFFFOUND! find it in their hearts to both invite me and make it Mac friendly. I would be a happy user.

And I don’t blame them in anyway for my lack of organization.

What are these called?

June 8, 2009

I know what they are and the purpose they serve, but can’t help to admit I have not a clue what they are called. Do you???

I was recently perusing a crafty gal’s blog when I came across these little looms, (that’s what I’m pretending they are called from now on) filled with the cutest fabric in them. What a brilliant idea! I quickly ran to Joann‘s and grabbed some scrap fabric and the little “looms” so I could make some myself. It’s super easy and a quick way to throw up some art on your walls.

I will admit: I’m not in love with any of the fabrics I picked out. They were all samples for $1 and I just wanted something to fill them up with. I plan to take my time to find some really great coordinating textiles … something more along the lines of this sold out goodness:

Found at WhipstitchFabrics‘s Esty shop. (Via True Up.)

Right now, as I’m in the process of packing, they aren’t up and pretty on the walls yet, but I’ll be sure to photograph, once I’m all moved in. I may even grab a few more “looms” while I’m at it …
