I promise this is not turning into a jewelry blog. But I really wanted to share with you, loyal reader, the beauty that is this ring. I want it, I need it, I shall have it! Okay, it’s sold out, but so what? :0
It’s free form and has an amazing organic quality to it. And it’s my birth stone, to boot! It would even make a great engagement ring! (hint, hint)
Well, it’s got me on the whole plate roll. What’s a plate roll? My latest obsession!
Since I got the uber-cool Harkerware platter from Chance a couple of months back, I’ve been envisioning a “plate wall” of sorts in my dining room or kitchen. I thought I’d go to a couple of thrift store and find all sorts of goodies.
Unfortunately, it hasn’t been the case. The 80′s have landed hard on thrifting and the plates and dishes leave less to be desired. So I’m on a slow, but sure lookout.
I found this online somewhere (sorry, lost the link!) the other day and it’s basically exactly what I want. Just gorgeous!
This is not, but basically is, my dream “first” house. It’s a sleepy 2 bedroom, 1 bath in Little Forest Hills, one of my DREAM neighborhoods in Dallas. It’s in our price range and everything. I can just imagine the endless decorating possibilities it has waiting for me inside.
Don’t ya just love all of the Austin stone and trees everywhere? Sigh …
Clearly, I’m asking a lot of questions these days.
But seriously, should I get on of these shell chairs? We all know I’ve been obsessing over them for over a year or so … and I found some in really great shape at Lula B’s the other day. (Check out the link to see pics of my coworkers! Who knew they were on the Facebook fan page?!) After the 20% discount, it’s a bargain at $38.40. I should get one, right?
Well if I do that, I’m doing the whole kit and kaboodle. I would order the lovely Eames Eiffel base to match my desk. And it just plain looks smokin’!
I’ll let you know what happens. I’m moving in less than a month and really hadn’t planned on adding any furniture during this time, but I really don’t think I can pass this one up!
And what color will I get, you ponder? I’m not sure yet! I immediately fell in love with the blue one, but it’s in the roughest shape. The yellow is really growing on me and the gray/white is a standard. Let’s here from you. Which one would get take home?
Sorry kiddos, I haven’t been anywhere, except if you count my office a place.
I’ve been locked up in a hole called work. We recently celebrated our 25th Anniversary issue at the newspaper I daylight at. (Get it? Like moonlighting, only it’s during the day!)
It was one of the toughest week I’ve ever experienced, since being there for two and half years. Yet, it was also one of the most rewarding.
Daniel and I treated ourselves to the delicious tastes of Original Market Diner Saturday morning, and I was in shock and awe at how many folks were reading the paper at their tables.
The rack was already basically empty and it was a humbling experience to witness.
I’ll keep it short. I’ve had major jewelry envy that last few weeks after buying a few pieces at Etsy Dallas Spring Bash. So much so, that I had the brilliant idea that I could make my own!
Here is a necklace whipped up, after visiting my local craft store and getting a few essentials. I think this is just the beginning of my love affair for jewelry making.
And the best part? The total on this little guy was a mere $3.50-ish …
(As I always warn: sorry for the horrible lighting. The pics were a snapshot taken on my iPhone in fluorescent lighting. Yeah, I know … not a good look. I’m working on it, though!)
It’s finally here! The Etsy Dallas Spring Bash, that is! Come out and join the crowd at South Side on Lamar this Saturday for some handmade finds that can’t be found anywhere else. (OK, good point. Anywhere else, except for Etsy.com.)
Here are a few things I’ve found from the vendor’s shops online that I would loooooove to bring home with me:
This item is number one of my list!

And on a slightly related note, I wanted to make it official before I get discouraged: I am in the process of starting my Etsy shop and plan to have a booth set up and ready to go by the time Etsy Dallas hosts its next event. (It’s going to happen, future self. Be prepared!)
In case you were curious what I would sell, it would be my design services. More specifically, wedding invitations. I’ve just completed my second set of invites for a friend and could not be more pleased. Yes, dealing with brides is slightly stressful, but I’m up for the challenge.
And if you need any orders filled, don’t hesitate to ask! Drop me a line here at STUDIO 67.
I don’t think you have to be a designer (or font lover like yours truly) to truly experience the greatness that is this video. You just have to have a sense of humor and eyes and ears. It’s just that good. Go Team Helvetica!
Happy weekend everyone! I’m going to The Modern in Ft. Worth this weekend. I have been itchin’ to go and rarely make it to Tarrant Country, so it will be a day of joy. Also, Happy Mother’s Day to all the bad ass mama’s out there, too! You ladies rock and make the world go round.
Every time I drive past the Sigel’s sign, I feel like it’s a small window into the past, a past I’d like to know better! With it’s crazy neon lights and fabulous blue and orange paint, I have often longed to photograph it.
So this weekend, Daniel and I did just that. We made a pit stop over on the way to the Inwood Theatre, to the empty parking lot on Lemmon Avenue and Inwood Road, to shoot it.
What devastating news did we find out, while our little hearts were bursting with creative vision? It’s going away! :(
Yes, the Sigel’s store is closing this month. The store is practically bare and sign will most likely go when they vacate. According the The Observer’s Unfair Park blog (boo), it will probably be transplanted to another location. Whew!
I’m still sad to see it go, but stoked we had the opportunity to get some snaps before it was too late.
Also, upon some light Googling, it turns out LOTS of people love the sign as much as we do. Check out the Flickr love if you have a second. And yes, I’ll be the first to admit they put mine to shame.
In honor of the fabulous Flight of the Conchords (whom I’m seeing tonight with Raquel and Alyssa) and Cinco de Mayo, I thought I’d create a new mixed well for you folks. Ya know, in case you want to shake your booty to some good tunes … perhaps with a margarita in hand …

PS: This is admittedly super random, but do you abbreviate margarita by saying ‘Rita’ or ‘Marg’? I’ve always went with the first options, until I was in L.A., when everyone was saying marg. Then suddenly, I feel like everywhere I go, it’s marg this, marg that. Did I miss this day in school, when we switched? So tell me, do you sit on your patio sipping a rita or a marg?
