Sorry that it’s been a full week since I blogged. I’ve been very, very busy and not a ton of time to sit at the computer and chit chat.
I’ll post something extra special later. Not sure really what that will be at this exact moment, but a promise is a promise, so …

Me in my favorite shirt, circa 1998, in Portland, Oregon. I have no clue what happend to the shirt and now I'm suddenly sad.
Should I splurge $500 for a flight to Alaska? (This is from Seattle, not DFW, mind you.) My parents are going next summer and I would REALLY love to go visit family I have there. I haven’t seen them since I was 20 and they lived in Portland …
And, um, it’s Alaska!
I’ll keep you posted as further developments happen. The idea was just presented to me.

Is it really hard to find a guy that will say this? Really, this is all I want.
Really … I promise!

I would simply swoon and melt.
About the artists:
Able and Game are a duo from Melbourne, Australia, offering cards and stationery that are quirky and cute rather than cliche and predictable. The cards feature hand drawn designs of weird and wonderful people that are a off beat and stand out from the crowd.
This card is from their Valentine’s Day collection for 2009 and thankfully that dreaded day has passed. But I heart the cards and think they can be used any day. (Like under pillows, as a morning surprise … hint, hint … )

Yeah, I’ve got the flu aka living death … sorry for not posting in several days. I just wanted to give you an update. I’m taking a ton of cough syrup with codeine. That little bottle is my best friend right now. I’ll post when I actually make human contact here soon.
Tara: don’t have that baby yet. I won’t be able to hold her for a few days. :)
Much love,
Kristina

Me, at 28.
So, I’ve mentioned John Mayer in my last two blogs; how random. (The headline to this is from his song “
Say” and he is on my
Mixed Well entry.) I’m not really sure why, but I’ve been in a
Mayer Mood lately.
So what do I need to say?
THANK YOU! Really, from the bottom of my heart, thanks for all of the lovely surprises, deliveries, flowers, balloons, sweets and love on my 28th birthday. I truly appreciate each of you and have found myself more touched this year than many birthdays in the past.
Despite the fact that I was at work uploading this week’s content to our web site, I had a great day: Flowers came from my wonderful parents, Robert and Gwen … lunch at Village Burger Bar with Chance, Chris and Ramon the Mexican (who thinks he’s white) … a G I A N T cookie delivered from Tara (see pictures!) … and a homemade sheet cake from Kris Martin at work. And then after pulling a 13 hour day at the office, the cherry on top was the birthday cards from Raquel, Zoe and Pilar attached to a balloon and candy bar waiting at my from door.
Additionally, I had a million phone calls with well wishes, including one at 12:01 am from Alyssa, who was so proud to be the first to tell me Happy Birthday!
Tomorrow is pedis with Tara and dinner with my besties at Uncle Julio’s. I couldn’t ask for more and really appreciate all of my great friends in my life. 8•) It truly means so much to me. Thank you, thank you all, as I near closer and closer to 30!
Now here are some fabulous pictures of my day:

Flowers delivered from Mom and Dad.

A surprise cookie from (as she put on the card) TBax/Cag.

The sheet cake Kris Martin made for me and card from everyone in the office.
And finally:

A present at my front door!

I consider mixing a CD somewhat important and useful. Isn’t it just the worst when people stick a bunch of songs onto a disc and hit play? No, just me?
Well, this is my blog, so bah! The new category is coyly titled mixed well. I’ll showcase my latest disc that I’ve scrambled together and share with YOU! (Don’t you feel special? Because you should!)

This week’s is titled: Song to Drive to with the Windows Down. No, it’s not the most clever title in the world, or as I apparently say all the time, “It’s not changing lives … or anything.” But it’s quick and to the point. And damn it: aren’t some songs just better when you’re flooring it on Central Expressway?
1. The Thrills • Don’t Still Our Sun
2. The Decemberists • When the War Came
3. John Mayer • Kid A (Radiohead Cover)
4. Silverchair • Straight Lines
5. Maroon 5 • Secret
6. The Shins • Spilt Needles
7. Snow Patrol • Run
8. Sun Kil Moon • Duk Koo Kim
9. Radiohead • All I need
10. Coldplay • A Rush of Blood to the Head
11. Death Cab for Cutie • Passenger Seat
Disclaimer: I just have a regular old CD player in the Civic. So, we’re looking at 700 MB’s tops. The average play list is probably only 10 – 12 songs, so don’t go all thinking I have a fancy MP3-playing-dealio in my car. Susie Civic is not that kinda gal.

I just got an email that the presale for Flight of the Conchords goes on sale Friday!!!
I didn’t even know my favorite duo was on tour, let alone coming to the Big D. I’m too excited for words. Of course I’ve already texted Raquel, but if you’re a fan and wanna come with, grab your tackiest sweatshirt and let’s go!
I’m planning on sporting a tiger tee that my parents bought me the last time they went up to the Portland Zoo. The moment I saw it, I thought of Bret. :)

I’m at home sick today; I have a cold brewin’ in my body. I hate colds more than I hate daytime TV. I think they are the devil: simply because they are so common, don’t get the recognition they deserve (how much they SUCK!) and antibiotics can’t make them go away. So I sit here at my computer, body aches, dry nose and all and am thinking how dry my skin is.
I live in Dallas, usually a pretty humid place. But the weather here, along with the rest of the ya’ll, has been crazy-weird. (I don’t believe in global warming, you say? Tell that to Kentucky and London.) So I have even drier skin that usual and I can’t stand it. I’m constantly scouting out new face scrubbers, lotions and night creams. I love them.
But I’m in a funk: I have been using the exact same stuff for over two years now and I’m thinking it’s time for a break-up. After blowing my nose a million times for the last two days, the flakiness is reminding me that we both need to move on.
What currently on my plate:
The Body Shop’s Vitamin C Micro Refiner to scrub with every morning in the shower, Vitamin E Illuminating Moisture Cream for the day and, on the rare occasion that I remember to wash my face before bed, the Vitamin E Nourishing Night Cream for overnight moisturizing.
It’s all good stuff. I recently added the bliss fabulous foaming face wash for morning face washes. (It even sports little scrubbers in it to exfolioate!)
My question is: where should I go from here? As I’m typing this, I just discovered on bliss’s web site bliss best of skintentions. Should I switch? And what do you use? I’d love to hear any tips or suggestions for thirsty skin like mine!

As many of you know, Domino magazine has printed it’s last issue (number 28 to be exact) this month with my arch-nemesis Zooey Deschanel on the cover. Besides my uber-jealousy of Soon-To-Be-Mrs.-Ben-Gibbard, I’m very sad to see the decorating mag fold. The link will even be dead in few short weeks!
So now I’m on a mission: to own the entire catalog. Ok, so maybe I only have three that I can currently find on my bookshelves, but that only makes 25 more to go! I headed down to a small Half Priced Books this evening to scour the shelves, but alas, no Domino. Maybe others feel the same way? There sure were a ton of Real Simple and Martha Stewart Living‘s collecting dust.
I did grab a couple of new copies of both and a Country Living (I know, but it had cute stuff and was sooooo not country. It even had a bunch of stuff from Paper Source in it.) … Also yanked a copy of Running in Heels. Mostly because the girl in the vector art looks creepily like Michael Jackson … I’ll let you know how it turns out.
The Domino-less shelves of Half Priced Books.
